What can you do for free in Tromsø?

Walk the harbour and street art, circle Prestvannet lake, walk the coastal path at Telegrafbukta, visit the Arctic-Alpine Botanic Garden and the free Tromsø Center for Contemporary Art, and look for the northern lights from dark spots on the island. In summer you can also climb the Sherpa Steps for free.

Are museums in Tromsø free?

Most are not, and we found no regular free-admission day (checked November 2026). Under-18s get in free at Perspektivet Museum and the Northern Norway Art Museum, and Tromsø Kunstforening is free for everyone.
