How much is a northern lights tour in Tromsø?

Checked November 2026: about 750-1300 NOK per adult on a big bus, 1750-2500 NOK in a minibus or small group, and 1190-1290 NOK on a fjord cruise. A private minibus starts around 20,000 NOK per vehicle.

Is a small-group northern lights tour worth it?

It helps most on cloudy, uncertain nights and for photographers, because a small vehicle can move faster and stop in smaller places. On a clear, active night a big bus works fine.

Do you get a refund if you don't see the northern lights?

Usually not. Several operators offer a second tour at 50% off or a free place on another tour instead; check the terms before you book.

Are thermal suits included on northern lights tours?

On some. Polar Adventures' minibus and NorthernShots' small-group tour include one; budget and big-bus tours usually don't.

Can you see the northern lights in Tromsø without a tour?

Yes, on clear and active nights. Prestvannet and Telegrafbukta are free spots on the island, but a tour helps when the coast is cloudy.
